Peas Please!

Ricky loves some peas. I think they are his favorite. This seems weird to me, I had some preconceived notion that babies didn't care for the green veggies. I however, love peas. Of course I have seen some pretty big smiles following some bananas and apples too but he gobbles up peas. Truth be told, he gobbles up anything although his carrot love does vary depending on mood.

He has been on solids for over a month now and it up to eating them 3 times a day. Some days are better than others. If he is cranky he doesn't want to deal with the spoon but we press on. At times I am covered in orange or green spatter thanks to the raspberries he loves to blow, especially when he has food in his mouth. I have however found the perfect bib, which was on clearance at PBK (where I rarely shop because it is just too expensive!) and of course it appears to be discontinued.

He continues to amaze us every day. It seems like yesterday we just brought him home. But now, now he is looking more like a little boy and not so much the baby we had just a few months ago. He has been rolling from his back to his tummy for about a month. One day I had my nose stuck in a magazine for about 2 minutes and he had managed to roll across the entire living room. As a result, his playroom has become a priority and we hope to have it done soon. He reaches for toys, he reaches for Mommy or Daddy (sometimes) and he REALLY reaches for a bottle. He likes playing in his bathwater and splashing all around. He is capable of verbally expressing his interest or displeasure with something. He giggles at the potential threat of forthcoming tickles. And while there have been a couple cranky days, he is handling teething like a pro.

The best thing of all though is that first smile of the day. You know, the smile you see in the morning when you pick up your little one out of their crib. I walk into his room and peek over the edge of his crib. He looks up and just breaks out into the biggest grin ever. It's amazing.

Overall, things are going very well. Some nights are better than others, but we have eliminated the second nighttime feeding that he was getting. We've settled into a nice routine and he is doing great. I promise to post pictures, I just have to get them off the camera. In the meantime, call my cable operator (Verizon FIOS) and yell at them for not having the BigTen Network. I can't watch the OSU game today unless I go to a sports bar. Not too cool with a 6 month old. Go Bucks!

You didn't miss much. Look out for September 13th-it will be nationally televised and should be damn good game (I hope, if Beanie isn't hurt too bad). I had to go to a sports bar too, to watch the game but I don't have a baby :).

GO BUCKS!

Carter loves peas too. Especially homemade ones (not the smelly jar stuff). Hope these boys keep their good eating habits!
