Nesting vs Delegating

First off, I don't know when nesting is really supposed to kick in so I can't say for certain if this is what it is. Some sites say it can kick in as early as the 5th month and others say it is a sign of the onset of labor.

Regardless of which it is, stuff is getting done. Not necessarily by me but it's getting done regardless.

For example, I am having the entire house painted next week. I thought we would do this ourselves, I mean, it's just painting. The people on tv can bust out painting an entire house in like 3 or 4 days. Surely I will be able to do it.

Oh wait....I have to buy brushes and rollers and tape and paint trays and drop cloths. OK, what about the trim? Do I freehand that or tape everything off? ARGH!!!! I don't want to have to deal with it. I would rather just come home from work one day and ta-da! Presto chango - walls are perfect.

So a colleague referred this guy to me that did a great job on her place at a very reasonable price. He came over, gave me an estimate, we set up some dates and he starts on Tuesday. He is even going to install crown molding in my living/dining room & replace all of the light fixtures. Picture 20 yr old light bars in the bathrooms with the giant bulbs that are $4/each and tarnished fake brass ceiling lights. Ugh!

So - here is the list of colors I gave the painter.

As you can see, I made him a nice spreadsheet and even left a column for him to use so he can enter how much of each color he needs in order to make his paint purchasing process easier. Is this a little too anal? I don't really care what he does with the list as long as the colors make it onto the walls.

My questions is, does this count as nesting (gone awry) or am I just being a wench and telling him what to do, aka delegating? BTW folks, I don't feel remotely bad about telling the guy what to do as we are paying him a handsome sum of the moo-lah.

This is something I have wanted to do since we moved into the place, we are just now getting around to it. I think Pookie has caught on to the "We should just do it now since there won't be time after the baby..." line. It has been pretty effective though. Cleaning the carpets are next. We will DIY that, only one major area really needs done.

I think that I am a little more excited at the prospect of getting this work done, definitely moreso than the average person. I don't understand why and I don't care. I just can't wait! I think sometimes when I sit in my house, I look around at what I want to do and painting has been #1 on the list since we moved in. Doorknobs and lightswitch/outlet covers are next. Also, I am waiting on the painting before having the nursery delivered. Once that is here, everything will be coming together and be oh so cute!!!! I might even get some of the many pictures that I have (still in the boxes) hung up on the walls. I will definitely be posting pics after everything is done.

Come to my house and delegate. Maybe Buns will listen to you.
